Newsletter - 1st half Spring Term 2016

20 April 2016

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year and welcome back for the 1st half of the Spring term at The Sombornes Pre-School! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas break. This term we would like to offer a warm welcome to Joseph, Erin, William, George and Amelia who are all joining us this term.

Thank you to all of you for attending our Christmas show – as a result of the raffle we raised over £100 for pre-school funds. Congratulations if you won a prize! The children will benefit directly from this, as we we will use the money raised to buy new resources.

Our topic for the beginning of term will be winter, including the weather and polar animals! We will try to take the children outside as much as possible, so please provide appropriate labelled clothing, such as wellies and a waterproof coat for wet days, and warm coats, hats, scarves etc if the weather turns colder. Please could any wellies be hung on pegs in named carrier bags – thank you!

We will continue to visit the school library on Wednesday mornings, and will also start to think about what to plant in our patch of the eco garden, as well as preparing it for planting new crops.

Looking ahead to the end of term, we will be having an Easter Bonnet parade on Thursday 24th March, with prizes for the best entries! All children will be welcome, regardless of whether or not they usually attend this session. We will also provide some party snacks to celebrate Easter, so no need to bring fruit snack to this session. Pre-school will then close at 12:15 for the Easter holidays. Further information will be given nearer the time.

In line with other settings, we always cut grapes in half when serving them at snack time to reduce risk of choking. Could we please ask that if you are providing grapes in packed lunches that they are in halves too? If it is possible to provide any other fruit pre-cut this would really help lunchtimes to run smoothly. Lastly, if you have any suitable junk-modelling materials it would be greatly appreciated as we are running low at the moment, thank you.

Best Wishes,

Becky, Katie, Diane and Ali.
